Here are some of the common questions we get asked about bottom fishing and charter fishing out of Bandon, Oregon aboard Prowler Charters.

What should I wear fishing?

You can never really tell what it is going to be like when you are out fishing. Some days it is absolutely beautiful and other days it is cold. With wind it could look beautiful and still be cold so it’s best to dress in layers. That way if you get hot or cold you can add or remove layers as needed. Sometimes you do get some spray off the ocean so a windbreaker or something that can handle water is good!

Do I need my own fishing gear?

No we provide bait and tackle, but if you have your own and would like to use it that is fine.

How man fish can I catch?

That depends on what you are fishing for. When bottom fishing the current regulations are 7 mixed fish and up to 2 ling cod so you could catch up to 9 fish. Salmon fishing changes so please call us for that information. Halibut is one fish per person. Tuna is 25 per person.

What else should I bring along

It’s always good to bring along something to drink as well as food. Sandwiches are good as are chips and the like. On longer trips you might want to bring a bit more.

How far out do you go

Again this depends on the trip. Bottom fishing is very close and you can be out fishing in 15-20 minutes. Halibut fishing is 12 or so miles out and tuna can be 20-60 miles out.
